Hi, I'm Helen!
As a little girl, I used to stand by the window watching planes land at the airport across from my house. Every time, I'd wonder where those people had been, what their lives were like and what it would feel like to live somewhere far away, surrounded by different people and cultures.
Years later, life took me in exactly that direction.
Today, after nine years of living abroad, working in international environments, leading multicultural teams and building friendships and relationships across cultures, I know that life away from your home country is about so much more than new experiences and opportunities.
It also brings moments when you question yourself, your choices, your relationships and where you belong.
And sometimes, you discover parts of yourself you never knew existed.
For me, one of those discoveries was Türkiye.
What began as an interest in the Turkish language and culture grew into a much deeper connection. Learning Turkish, spending time in Türkiye and meeting people there opened up another world that has become an important part of who I am.
We don't have to belong to only one place, one culture or one version of ourselves.
Through my own experiences, I also realised how often we romanticise life abroad. We talk about travel, new opportunities and exciting beginnings, but far less about loneliness, shifting identities, rebuilding relationships from scratch and the feeling that we're sometimes somewhere between two (or more) worlds.
And I became especially interested in what these changes mean for women.
Because moving abroad is about much more than adapting to a new country. For many women, it also means finding their place again in society, in relationships and in everyday life.
Sometimes we leave behind the circle of people with whom we felt known, accepted and safe. In a new environment, we build friendships again, learn unspoken social rules and search for people around whom we can truly be ourselves.
At the same time, we're navigating different expectations: those from the culture we grew up in, those we encounter in our new home and, perhaps most importantly, our own expectations of ourselves.
Some of us are building careers, others are building relationships or families, and others are trying to work out what they actually want from life. Many of us eventually wonder how much we've changed since leaving and whether we still recognise the person we used to be.
And even when it looks from the outside as though we've successfully built a new life, inside we may still be trying to find our place in it.
That realisation, alongside years of working with people and a desire to contribute to their growth in a more meaningful way, led me to coaching.
I discovered coaching first for myself and later chose to pursue it professionally.
Today, through one-on-one coaching, I support women building a life abroad, exploring who they are in new circumstances and creating a life in which they feel fulfilled, connected and genuinely themselves.
Living abroad can also be an opportunity to get to know yourself more deeply and build a life you truly want to live.
My experience and coaching approach
Before becoming a coach, I worked in international corporate environments, including leadership roles in operations and quality management. Leading and developing multicultural teams deepened my understanding of how culture, context and belonging influence the way we work, relate and grow.
I completed my coaching education through Ignite Global 360, a programme aligned with the competencies of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). My coaching is guided by ICF competencies and ethical standards, with an emphasis on partnership, active listening and trust.
